This year the Greater Philadelphia Christian Writers Conference is presenting a Continuing Session with Dr. John M. Perkins, on Justice, Compassion & Advocacy Writing.
Dr. Perkins has dedicated his life to empowering people and ministries to work alongside the poor and vulnerable. His guiding verse in life is Galatians 2:20: “I have been crucified with Christ; it is no longer I who live, but Christ lives in me; and the life which I now live in the flesh I live by faith in the Son of God, who loved me and gave Himself for me.”
John is a sharecropper’s son who grew up in New Hebron, Mississippi, amidst dire poverty. Fleeing to California at age 17 after his older brother’s murder at the hands of a town marshal, he vowed never to return. However after converting to Christianity in 1960 he returned to Mendenhall, Mississippi, to share the gospel of Christ. While in Mississippi, his outspoken nature and support and leadership in civil rights demonstrations resulted in repeated harassment, beatings, and imprisonment. He again was arrested in 2005 while protesting in Washington DC against U. S. Government defunding of programs aiding the poor.
He will be presenting the Keynote - Love Is the Final Fight on Thursday morning, the Justice, Compassion & Advocacy Panel on Thursday night, and the Continuing Session - Justice, Compassion & Advocacy Writing.
If you have not registered for the conference you have until July 15th before the price goes up! It's time to get registered!
