Supreme Court Upholds Right-To-Life!

by Bonnie Calhoun

As a born-again Christian and a pro-lifer I was ecstatic this week when the Supreme Court upheld the ban on the vile partial-birth abortion practice. Naturally big-mouthed Rosie O'Donnell *argghh* chimed in with her two-cents...worth about bubkus to me, and said that women needed the right because most of the babies at this stage were horribly deformed or dead....DEAD...Rosie get a clue...if a baby is already dead in the womb, there is no need to stick a pair of forceps into it head and scramble its brains! Bonnie, Bonnie, Bonnie...just breath!!!

Anyhow, Ruth Bader Ginsberg was a dissenting justice along with Justices Stephen Breyer, David Souter and John Paul Stevens.

The procedure at issue involves partially removing the fetus intact from a woman's uterus, then crushing or cutting its skull to complete the abortion.

Abortion opponents say the law will not reduce the number of abortions performed because an alternate method of dismembering the fetus in the uterus is available and, indeed, much more common!!! God help us all!!

And I show you all that to be able to show you my l'il sweet tater...My daughter is pregnant...we (notice I say we...LOL...this one ain't my job!) ...we are 15 weeks along as of Saturday...Look, look how cute....how could anyone call this a bunch of cells!

Her head is down, and to the right. That's a little arm sticking up above the head. Her feet and legs are curled up above her l'il Buddha belly, and to the top left!

First we were calling the baby a l'il strawberry, then she was a plum, now I'm callin' her a l'il sweet tater...LOL...only because we haven't seen a banana!

Ah, another pro-life out there! I can normally listen to most intelligent arguments, even for something I'm against. However, after getting pregnant and having my beautiful son, I could NEVER EVER imagine abortion. EVER. Especially this type of abortion. It sickens me. If a farmer was to do the same procedure to a cow, PETA would be all over them. But nope, when it comes to a baby, the rules are changed!

I'm so glad to find another who thinks like me! I will definitely be back.

Wonder what you'll compare her to when she gets bigger - and bigger!

This was exciting news, Bonnie. Praise the Lord for the court's decision.

That is an unbelievable image of the ultrasound. Modern technology is a wonderful thing, it allows grandparents to show pictures of their grandkids before they even get here.

You won't be worth two cents after that baby arrives. LOL

    Hi Bonnie,

I enjoyed this post since I don't really know where I stand on abortion.
I agree with some (not all) arguments on both sides. It does scare me that if abortion were to become illegal, that sicko "doctors" with dirty equipment would offer them for cash.

However, I also kind of find the whole issue a little like arguing about what kind of band aid to use on a gunshot wound. In other words, the real deal is that there are way too many unwanted babies being concieved, and that perhaps money should go into campaigning for proper sex education, (new - more effective) pro abstinence campaigns and just getting people to take responsibility for their actions. Obviously my own realizations have come now that I am a married adult, and not when I was a teenager, hot for every boy I laid my eyes on. Solutions are hard.

But thanks for your post. It made me think.

fHi Sarah...I can totally identify with your position! It's way easier for me to be against abortion now that I'm eyond child-bearing age...Thnk the good Lord!...but there is just something inherent in me that makes it reprehensible that they would deliver a whole baby other than it's head, and intentionally kill it, or dismember a baby in utero(to dismember) means that it has identifiable limbs...but yet our country is yelling holy hell that soldiers are dying everyday in Iraq, when these people CHOSE to join the Armed Service.

(I mean it doesn't take a rocket scientist to know that if you join the service and learn how to use a lethal weapon...you have the chnace of dying!)

    Congratulations on the tater!

I love both pics--the one with the wee babe in the hands (look at THE FEETE!), and the sonogram. How did you get that to scan so well, the detail? When I scan, I mess it up. Oh, well.

I don't know how they can do that. It's so intellectually dishonest. It's politically motivated. You know how they love to bash "it's politics." Well those three voted politics, not plain common sense and decency.

And Rosie O'Donnell proves yet again that you can be as stupid as a rutabaga and make tons of money on tv.

    Hey Bonnie Bonnie!

Excellent post. Yeah, I watched The View too and was praying for Elisabeth all the way!

Rosie must realize that just as we all care about the soldiers dying in Iraq, we also care about babies dying...in and out of the birth canal.

God is good. His will gon' be done, as my Grandma used to say...

I'm pro-choice, myself, but I'm probably one of the few pro-choicers out there who won't gloss over the fact that an abortion is killing a life and must be avoided at all costs.

I think the pro-choice movement is shooting itself in the foot by trying to save "the right" to partial birth abortion, and I don't think banning partial birth abortions will cause Roe vs. Wade to fall apart.

By the way, I came to the pro-choice position mainly because I was raised that way: my grandmother (born in 1878! she adopted my mom late in her life) was pro-choice, after losing a friend to a "back alley abortion".

I've always understood that abortion was to be avoided at all costs, but must be kept legal.

However, I find it abhorrent that pro-choice is often aligned with the "let's use abortion as birth control" platform.

I hope you still love me, Bonnie, after this confession!

:-) Of course I still love you. Your position is one that I'd love to see in the pro-choice movement.

The first trimester and the morning after pills don't bother me so much even though there are lines of people waiting to adopt unwanted babies.

It's that when there is an actual physical little person in there that someone would choose to rip them limb from limb really hurts my heart.

And the concept that partial birth abortion is to save a mother's life is such a crock, because it takes three days to conduct a partial birth abortion...Because they have to artificially dialate the uterus.

They also don't tell you about the cases where the Dr.s have been sued because the baby popped completely out...then they can't kill it because it's born, and now it's murder!

There are so many couples hungry to be parents that they are going out of the country and spending thousands of dollars to adopt.

    This barbarity makes no sense.

Yeah, God's pro-choice, too. He gave us our free will and look where it got us. Banished from the Garden of Eden. But thankfully, He sent His Son to redeem us.
